Weird diff between 7 & 10
If I open "MY Computer/This PC" under both win7 & 10 I see my IP camera in the listing along with my router and the other pcs on the network. What I find strange is that on Win10 if I right click on the IP camera icon and choose open I get a dialog box accessing the memory card on the camera. On Win7 the only option seems to be to open the IP cameras webpage to view the camera. I'd really like to know how win10 is accessing the camera so it displays it's memory card rather than the cam's webpage. Anyone have any ideas? |

It sounds to me like you need a Win10 compatible driver for you camera. Check the manufacturer's site for a driver update. -- best regards, Neil |

You type in ip, real time image appears. Beware! There are IP cameras and IP cameras. And some are very selective about which browsers they will work with. I bought a Foscam and spent ages trying to set it up. Only to find, after a few days, that it would ONLY work with Internet Explorer! Not Firefox, not Chrome. Nothing about that in the set-up instructions or anywhere on the web. That really ****ed me off, although once I got it going I was very pleased with its performance. I think the Chinese have some way to go with their documentation... |

I do not allow access from outside my ethernet so I'm only slightly concerned about hackers given all they'll see is front driveway and field across road anyways I thought the only way to access the cam was thru the web interface pages camera presents. Win10 show me there must be some other way that is not documented in the user manual so trying to find out how? |

You'd use Wireshark for this, except if the protocol is "excessively encrypted", in which case you might not see enough cleartext at the beginning to guess at the method. upnp-inspector is a tool you might try, if you thought a plain ordinary media server was on there. For other ideas, find an item like this. https://www.pentestpartners.com/secu...camera-part-1/ Paul |
