Trouble Installing MS Project 2003 After XP SP2?
Hi,
I've been running XP SP2 for close to a couple weeks now. I have the Windows Firewall disabled, and I have the IE pop-up blocker turned off. (My machine is a domain member physically located behind a hardware firewall. In addition, my machine runs Black ICE PC Protection 3.6cno, and the corporate Etrust anti-virus. I also run the latest versions of SpyBot and Ad-Aware as well as SpyWare Blaster. And I have my own pop-up blocker.....) Anyway, I'd previously installed the trial version of MS Project Standard 2003. (I have Office Pro Enterprise 2003 with OneNote 2003 installed.) Prior to installing XP SP2, I attempted to install the Office 2003 SP1, but the install fails. (I've installed Office 2003 SP1 successfully on my home machine.) In the meantime I installed XP SP2 and have had no other issues with my machine. Well, my Project trial expired, and I ordered a copy which I'm currently awaiting. Today I uninstalled the trial version of Project 2003, downloaded a new copy and tried to install it. After expanding itself and installing quite a few files, Setup stops abruptly, saying it can't locate a *.XML file (didn't write down the name, sorry), but I can see the supposedly missing file is exactly where Setup says it's not. I'm wondering if I'm experiencing an issue simply because I'm trying to install a trial version when a previous trial expired and was uninstalled. (I rebooted before trying to reinstall.) Is it possible that XP SP2 has some problem trusting XML files?? Seems unlikely, but..... I'm hoping that when my licensed version of Project 2003 arrives, it will install without a hitch. I have a Ghost image of my machine that I made prior to installing XP SP2, but I'd like not to have to revert to get Project installed. Comments appreciated. :-) Thanks and Regards, Margaret |
