Default monitor wont switch on

Im not sure if Im in the right section or anything, but the momnitor on my
mums computer wont turn on. We press the on button on the processor and the
monitor kind of starts up (but staying black) and then the light just sort of
flashes on and off, and never actually turns on properly. Any ideas why? Or
what I can do to fix it? Thanks.

Default monitor wont switch on

Bad video card, bad cable, loose connection. Or, the
computer could be infected with a virus that is turning it
off during the boot process or Windows is just crashing.

Try the monitor on another computer. Try another monitor on
your mums computer. Try booting to safe mode [press F8 as
soon as you power ON].
