Default Messenger Upgrade and now what?

I have a user who was using MSN Messenger 4.6 running
Windows 95 and now one of my clients is forced to upgrade
to version 5. The only problem is that this user doesn't
meet the system requirements for the upgrade. This client
is pretty angry and I don't know what the tell him. Any
solutions?

Greetings Sam,

Which System Requirements can't the user meet? If it's just Mhz, or RAM, they can be
ignored, it'll work anyway.

Running a 486 platform, but Messenger 5 requires a P90
system.

Hi Sam,

I don't have a 486 around here -- does the installer actually check? I think you could
probably get away with it (5 isn't that much more intensive).

I'm not sure what you mean by "Does the installer
actually check?". Are you saying that the client should
try downloading it and try to install it? What will
happen if it doesn't work, will the system crash with
errors?

Hi Sam,

It won't crash with errors -- these are "recommended system requirements", there is nothing
in MSN Messenger that is specific to the Pentium chip. Worst case scenario is it goes too
slow to be usable.
