WinXP SP2, IE6 SP2 security flaw with password protected web sites
In Internet Explorer 6 SP2 I have my default web page set to Yahoo Mail's
web site: http://mail.yahoo.com/ I can log in to my Yahoo e-mail account and successfully log out. If I log out of Windows XP and log back in or restart Windows XP SP2 and run Internet Explorer 6 SP2, my Yahoo Mail account gets automatically logged in. I sent an e-mail to Yahoo Support and I have not heard anything back from them. I can duplicate this with my MSN Hotmail account too, but I rarely use that account. After further testing on a few web sites that I use that requires a login, this same security problem occurs. I cannot duplicate this problem in Mozilla Navigator 1.7.3 and Mozilla Firefox 1.0. I had other Windows XP SP2 users duplicate this same problem after installing the latest Windows security updates from the Windows Update web site. This noticable Internet Explorer 6 SP2 security problem did not occur until I installed these recent Windows XP SP2 updates: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms04-038.mspx Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-038 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (834707) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886185 Description of the critical update for Windows Firewall "My Network (subnet) only" scoping in Windows XP Service Pack 2 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887797 Outlook Express for Windows update available http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...0/default.aspx Windows Media Player 10 |
