Default Johnathon Kay: how to reinstall Messenger?

You recently posted directions on stoppping messenger
from loading. I did it and now I want reinstall. What I
want to do is stop messenger from loading at startup and
just call it up when I want to check mail.

Default Johnathon Kay: how to reinstall Messenger?

Greetings Chic,

Just reinstalling from the following link should set it up again for you:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp

I want to clarify (can we edit on this board?). What I
did was update to Messenger 4.7 and sometime later I saw
a .NET user added to my users on the computer. I thought
it was an intruder set up to control my computer. So I
deleted the user. Messenger was still loading at
startup OK so far, but I don't think I tried to log
on. Anyway I didn't notice anything different. Then I
decided I didn't want messenger to load at startup and I
saw directions on this board how to delete. But after
reading further posts, I think I can set everything up to
work when I want it to so I need to reinstall.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. Since I still have
a lot of questions about how to setup and customize
Messenger properly, can you post a good reference? When
I loaded Messenger 4.7 it replaced an MSN logon to an
email account which I use occaisionally. Now I get an
error message indicating too many failed attempts to log
on, but I wasn't logging on. Could this be do to my
unorthodox previous removal activities?
