Default system restore

I have an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. I cannot get System
Restore to work. I've been told that Microsoft is going to come out
with a fix for this. Has anyone else heard this?

No, I haven't heard of a fix.
Try booting into Safe Mode and running restore from there.
Also, if you have antivirus software, like Norton, that may be stopping it.

I also have WIN 7 home premium, and use sytem restore with no problem. Be
a little more specific, what does it do rather than restore.

It can take a long time to start up. Did you wait a half hour or more?

In addition to what Dave suggested, make sure you don’t have any USB devices attached – other than
mouse & keyboard if used – before attempting the restore, see if that works. It sounds like it
encounters some conflict of some kind. System Restore works fine on any Windows 7 Home Premium
computers I have worked on.

Where did you hear about MS coming out with some “fix” for this?

You're serious about the half-hour startup? It used to take 5
minutes. Why so long? Thanks. I heard about a fix from a HP tech.
