Can audio chat work if system is in DMZ?
Hi,
Firewall has NO uPNP function. Can I have two systems communicate over MSN Audio chat, if I'd place the in a DMZ? I guess, the only problem when not having uPNP is the NAT????? Gabrie |

Can audio chat work if system is in DMZ?
Greetings Gabrie,
If you're going through the NAT, the NAT either will need Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) or have some type of built-in Messenger support. Although the DMZ will sometimes allow this to work (only because it usually drops the NATs firewall and allows the built-in support to work), if there is no built-in Messenger support, then it won't work. If you're simply using a software firewall or some other firewall which doesn't utilize a NAT, then UPnP is not required, Messenger just needs the correct rights and/or the proper ports opened. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Windows MVP, Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "Gabrie van Zanten" wrote in message ...
