PCMCIA MTD-0002 errors
When a pcmcia device is inserted into the slot it is recognized as a mtd-0002
device. The new device found launches but is un able to load drivers. SP2 was just loaded from a disk I just got from microsoft. Laptop is a Gateway 400sd4. I reloaded the mother board drivers from gateway, tried a different pc card still the same results. PCMCIA.sys info is version 5.1.2600.2180 size 119,936 date 8-3-2004. Seems to have the symptoms discussed in microsoft KB319326. Can someone help? |

Basically this means that pcmcia.sys can not read the attribute info from the card and recognize it. This can be for number of reasons. Try another card, try this card in another machine. --PA |

I've done both. This card works fine in other machines and another card has
the same result in this machine. "Pavel A." wrote: "JBGJR" wrote: When a pcmcia device is inserted into the slot it is recognized as a mtd-0002 device. Does your cardbus controller in the dev. manager appear by it's real name or something "generic" ? Are there by chance broken or bent pins in the pcmcia slot? --PA "Pavel A." wrote: "JBGJR" wrote: When a pcmcia device is inserted into the slot it is recognized as a mtd-0002 device. PCMCIA MTD-0002 errors
I have the exact same problem with my PCMCIA Bus. It's not with the actual
PCMCIA device, but with the bus itself. I have an HP Pavilion ze4500 Laptop with an O2Micro 6912 PCMCIA Bus. I contacted HP about the issue and the sent me a link for a patch and a BIOS update, but neither resolved the issue. The PCMCIA device I am trying to run is a Netgear WG511T Wireless Adapter. I also have a PCMCIA USB2.0/Firewire adapter which only the Firewire works correctly. USB 1.1 device work, but USB 2.0 doesn't work correctly. I have a PCMCIA AverTV device that functions correctly. If I eject the Wireless card and re-insert it, it recognizes it and starts the device and it works normally until I restart my computer. Then it is recognized as a MTD-0002 and no driver will work to initialize the device. O2Micro supposedly fixed this issue with a driver that they created and sent to certain people, but I haven't been able to find it. I have wondered if the latest PCMCIA.SYS driver published by Microsoft would have fixed this issue, but they don't provide it anywhere on their site. It was supposed to be included with Service Pack 2, but it's not there. Version 5.1.2600.2180 is what is in SP2. Version 5.1.2600.34 is supposed to be the new one. Whether or not, it fixes the issue, is to be seen, but my research shows that this is a bug in the Microsoft Driver. Oddly enough, if I run a Linux OS, I don't have this issue. I don't know yet if this is an issue with Windows Vista, but I will find out as soon a my memory upgrade arrives. For now, if anyone knows where I can download the new driver to test it, please send me a message. Or if Microsoft will fix their bugs, that would be great too. -- Tim "JBGJR" wrote: When a pcmcia device is inserted into the slot it is recognized as a mtd-0002 device. PCMCIA MTD-0002 errors
I had exactly the same problem with a Presario 2100 laptop and my wireless card. I had to eject and plug back the card everytime I booted into Windows XP. I searched in google day and night for a solution with no avail. I figured out that if you disable/enable the O2Micro Controller under "PCMCIA adapters" on the device manager, it also works. So I found a way to do this automatically =) So...this is not really a fix but rather a workaround (but it works!) 1. First make sure you have installed the PCMCIA drivers. They didn't install automatically when I re-installed Windows. 2. You can download them from 'here' (http://ftp.us.dell.com/Security/R144793.EXE) 3. Extract the download file, run the setup.exe file and restart 4. Download DevCon package from Microsoft.com by clicking 'here' (http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...240/devcon.exe) and extract the package and copy the appropriate version (file in I386 folder for 32 bit Windows or file in Ia64 folder for 64 bit windows) to the C:\windows\system32\ folder. 7. Click start and right click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”. 8. Click the “Hardware” tab at the top. 9. Click on the “Device Manager” button. 10. Click on "PCMCIA adapters" 11. Right click on "O2Micro Controller" and Select "Propierties". 12. Click the "Details" tab at the top. 13. Look in for the device name of the O2Micro Controller, for example PCI\VEN_1217&*DEV_6972*&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_00\3&6 1AAA01&0&50 In the above line the device instance ID is "DEV_6972" 14. Right click on your desktop 15. Click on new - Text document 16. Open the new document 17. Write the following (Replace the Dev Id with your Dev id if neccesary): @echo off c:\windows\system32\devcon disable *DEV_6972* c:\windows\system32\devcon enable *DEV_6972* 18. Click on "File" - "Save as" 19. Under "File name" write restart.bat and click on save 20. Now you will have an icon on your desktop named restart. You can click it everytime you reboot, or you can drag it to "Start" - "All programs" - "Startup". And it will run automatically each time you boot into Windows. Hope it helps!! -- sirblackjack ------------------------------------------------------------------------ sirblackjack's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/sirblackjack.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/xp-hardware/603389.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

PCMCIA MTD-0002 errors
I have a Dell Inspiron 1200 using a Sierra Wirless 875 AirCard. Until a recent automatic update that included Bios, it worked fine. Now it refuses to detect the aircard. Diagnosis indicates a lack of driver for PCMCIA MTD-0002 (?). Also NEC PMI Host Controller conflicts with USB ports. I have contacted Dell, out of warranty, no support. I have contacted AT&T and Sierre Wireless, same results or out of their expertise. Downloaded Driver Det. which indicated several drivers (PCMCIA/NEC PMI) not updated...updated with no avail. Any suggestions -- SPOUDAZO ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SPOUDAZO's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/spoudazo.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/xp-hardware/603389.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
