So you are the cleverest of all octogenarians here especially when you
are not using any 3rd party tools. That is how Windows is supposed to
be used in my books.

I forgot to ask in my previous post. When you say old desktop users.
How old? If you are in your 80s then statistically you don't have
longer to live so there is no need to upgrade. This saves Windows
Support Team from solving your problems because of your old age.

Majority of sensible users on this newsgroup are using Windows 10 but
they are much younger than yourself so don't try to imitate them.

Sorry, I meant old school desktop users. I am about half-way to the
80s
in terms of age.

I am 73 and Win 10 is on my 3 computers with Start10.

Ken1943

72 and I have Windows 10 on two of my computers, with the third to be
updated the next time the schedule permits.

All of my computers are using the new Start menu, and the functions
available on the MS Icon on the desktop toolbar. ( No third party start
programs.)

It is amazing how the younger generation can not adapt to new things ;-)

I'm 82 and have Windows 10 on 2 Machines, no 3rd party start programs,
Also run Win 10 insider and Linux Mint 17.3 on a triple boot system. All
of them Work 100% good, You just gotta wrestle Win 10 to your liking.

Regards, Rene

Looks like this thread is turning into one of those "Mine is bigger than
yours" competition but in this case it's "Mine is older than yours". :-)

It was going that way, until Storming Norman proved he was born before
computers. (At least in my bible God did not tell Noah to add a computer
guidance system with GPS to the Ark.)

Seriously I think it proves that regardless of what some have said on
this newsgroup, it is not a generational thing as to whether you like
Window 10 or not.

That is what I did, in one fell swoop !

+1, except I use StartIsBack on the three PCs in my household (2 mine, and 1
belonging to SWMBO).

I feel like the punk kid in this group at only 69 :-)
I've had Win10 on my laptop (upgraded from Win8.1) as an Insider way back
when (seems like a long time, but I guess it wasn't), then upgraded my
desktop from Win7 about 6 or 8 months ago. SWMBO finally got hers updated
last week (why do today what you can put off 'til next year, LOL). Of the 3,
hers went the smoothest, but it may be because by the time I convinced her
to do it, all the drivers, etc., were updated well. It only took about ~60
minutes from start to finish. Once I updated StartIsBack on it, she hasn't
had a complaint (yet).

Nope, way too high. Let's just say, I am about a half of that. :P

Well in that case it is better now to upgrade as Windows 10 is de-facto
Industry Standard and remain so. You won't regret it. i have done it
on my old Optiplex 760 machines which couldn't take Windows 8/8.1 but
took 10 like a breeze!!
