The folders/files are still there when I do a search but the Dell Imagining is gone. If I do a system restore would that bring it back? Otherwise all I can think of is to re-stalled the Dell Imaging software and then do a Mrimg restore to bring everything back. Thoughts/Suggestions? Robert |

Should I? https://www.downloadhelper.net/ Robert Yes it's a valid download page. You have little to lose by trying it - you don't have to use it if you don't like how it works, and can always unload it. I haven't downloaded it recently, so will give the usual warnings - watch out for extras you don't want, both during the download and during the install. Do also get youtube-dl.exe; don't be put off by Paul's mention of Linux - it works just as well in Windows. All such download things have a constant arms race with operators of video-containing websites. Some have automatic updaters, some manual. So far, the only times I've found youtube-dl has failed, I've updated it (very simple: you type "youtube-dl -U"), and the new version had already had incorporated into it whatever had broken the previous version. -- J. P. Gilliver. UMRA: 1960/1985 MB++G()AL-IS-Ch++(p)Ar@T+H+Sh0!:`)DNAf The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference, and undernourishment. -Robert Maynard Hutchins, educator (1899-1977) I re-read your post and saw you recommend YouTube -DL which is what Paul uses and yes I was put off by Linux. So maybe I will give that a try first. Is this the correct download page for YouTube-DL? https://ytdl-org.github.io/youtube-dl/index.html Robert https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl https://yt-dl.org/latest/youtube-dl.exe == for Windows users "Windows users can download an .exe file and place it in any location on their PATH except for %SYSTEMROOT%\System32 (e.g. do *not* put it in C:\Windows\System32). " I would probably just put the program in the same folder as the downloads are going into. Paul Thanks for the link; I'll try it but a more pressing issue has come up. I was using my Imagine Imagining software when it suddenly was gone. Sometimes that happens and its get overloaded or whatever and shuts down and I just restart it and carry on. It doesn't happen allot but only once in awhile but this time it gave me this message and I cannot find it in Programs and Features. https://postimg.cc/p580kwY7 What happened? I got a message from Avast shortly thereafter that it had blocked an attempt. I can't remember what it was. So how do I get my Dell imaging back and not loose the data? Would a Macrium restore restore the Dell Imaging software? I have the original disk and can reload the program but I had allot of data I don't want to loose on there. I tried restarting the computer and still the same. Thoughts/suggestions? Robert Does Avast have a Quarantine folder ? The file could be in there. You can use Macrium and a recent backup, to try and find a copy of the file. The problem is, TrustedInstaller owns the Program Files folder, so putting the file back will not be easy. If Avast can be convinced to put it back from Quarantine, that would be easier. Installing the software is one way to put it back. If you go to Control Panels : Programs and Features, and select the Dell package, see if it offers a "Repair" option instead of "Uninstall". A few programs reinstall and repair missing files, when asked. Not every program does that though, and a lot show "Uninstall" when you try. Paul |

When I open up 'all programs' I see nothing new has been added. Do I have to do more? Thoughts? Robert Video Downloadhelper is a browser extension; it appears as an extra button within the browser, not in "all programs". The button has three balls on it - initially shades of grey, but when you look at a webpage that it recognises as containing a video it can download, they become red blue and yellow. (In Chrome, it doesn't work with the YouTube site; since Google are behind both Chrome and YouTube, they made it a condition of their carrying it on the Chrome add-ons site that it wouldn't work on YouTube videos.) Since youtube-dl is a command line utility, it won't appear in "all programs"; you have to call it up the old-fashioned way. You'll know you have installed it correctly by the fact that, somewhere on your system, you will have a file called youtube-dl.exe, of size about 8M (the version I currently have, which is version 2019.07.14, is 8,049,717 bytes). As Paul says, I'd just put a copy of it into your download folder - say D:\temp or something like that. Then, when you find a webpage containing a video you want to download - I'll use https://public.oed.com/blog/in-conve...rris-part-one/ as an example: 1. Copy the URL (to the normal clipboard). 2. In explorer, go to D:\temp. 3. Open a command prompt there. [If you don't have "command prompt here" see below.] 4. type youtube-dl (that's "youtube-dl" followed by a space). 5. alt-space, E, P. This will paste in the URL, so the command window should show D:\tempyoutube-dl https://public.oed.com/blog/in-conve...rris-part-one/ for my example. 6. press Enter. Lots of lines of text will appear - ignore those; if it works, the last one will start with "[download]" followed by a percentage, which should rise to 100%. 7. Close the command window (unless you're going to be doing more). 8. In explorer, looking at your download folder, there should now be a video file that wasn't there before. Rename it if you wish, then move it to the folder you want it to be in. If you don't have "Open command window here" or similar when you right-click on a folder, then add it - either by the standalone (e. g. https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/det...mpt_here.html), or it is one of the settings in the Windows 7 tweaker (http://www.thewindowsclub.com/ultima...a-tweak-ui-for -windows-7-vista) -- J.
