Default Shortcut error message

I'm running XP pro. For some reason I've started getting error messages
when I click on some of my desktop shortcuts which I use extensively.
Attached is a screenshot of an example. The wierd part of it is that right
after I get the error message, the link appears properly. So, the
screenshot shows the error message that first popped up (at the top), then
shows the desired link below. Any ideas on what's going on and how to fix
it?

I'd sure appreciate the help. Thank you.

Mike

What second post?

This is a threaded newsgroup. You need to keep each message complete with
all the needed details and/or provide a link to other items such as other
posts.

Mike,

None of your attachments are showing up. If you're using your
ISP's news server to access these newsgroups, it's possible
they don't allow attachments. I know my ISP Comcast removes
attachments to newsgroup messages. The way around that is to
either use Microsoft's news server, msnews.microsoft.com, or
use an image hosting web site such as this one.

Good luck

Hi Mike

Are you talking about web shortcuts, and are you using Firefox?

On 6/2/07 at 7:22 PM, I resubmitted this post with the screenshot attached.

Nightowl, in your email, I didn't understand how to get to Tools without
Firefox running. Where did you find Tools | Folder options?

Thanks for your suggestion.

You could have manually typed out the error message by now. :-)

This does not work with all error messages, but it does with most.

To copy an error message...
When the error message pops up, click on it to make sure that it has focus.
Hit Ctrl + C to copy the message.
Use Ctrl + V or right click and select Paste to paste into a message or
Notepad or whatever.

Hi Mike

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Just open any folder window through My
Computer, or open Windows Explorer, click on the Tools menu and choose
Folder Options | File Types tab. Or you can go to Control Panel | Folder
Options and access the File Types tab from there.

Let us know how it goes :-)
