Anyone know how to automatically create a restore point in
Windows 8 from a batch file??

I've tried the visual basic "create-restore" that Google found

I was following this thread and when I was on one of Windows 8
machines one day and I looked for System Restore and I can't find it.

If you type in System Restore from your start screen, "Create a restore
point" comes up. Click on it, then on System Restore, and there are all
your restore points.
Or, from Run, type in rstrui and press Enter. Brings it right up. (I
boot to desktop, not FKA-Metro.)

From the Desktop I hit Win+Q and typed in System and then Restore and
nothing came up when I tried it. I'll try again later. Thanks!

Or you can press WinKey+Pause and pick System Protection from the left
column. That'll get you there, too. (Also works on Win7.)

Thanks Tom. One of my favorite key presses is Win+Pause. I love that
keypress. Although I have been using a Logitech K400r and it doesn't
have a pause key. Although like 9 keys are programmable and I believe I
can get it back. Many thanks.

Works with wireless Logitech K520, which does have a Pause/Break key.

The pause key is also called the Pause/Break key. See if the K400r has a
Break key, in which case Win+Break might work.

Doesn't it use the Fn key plus Delete for pause? WinKey+Fn+Delete should do
the same thing; that's what I have to do on my laptop.

No it is somewhat nonstandard. The Fn+Delete gives you Print Screen. It
looks like this:

Ten keys are programmable, so you can assign Win+Pause to one key if you
want.

Ah, that one's a little different than the regular K400

No problem. I didn't know a lot about the differences between the K400
and the K400r either at first. And I didn't know which one I would like
better. So I ordered one of each. Although the K400 from Newegg turned
out to be a K400r anyway. So now I have two of them.

http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com...ail/a_id/39601

And to be honest, now I am glad I didn't get a K400. As it is very
limited compared to the K400r. And I counted wrong the first time, the
K400r has 10 programmable keys. While I don't think the K400 has a
single one.
