Totally sick of getting this error message:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action.
Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an
association in the Default Programs control panel.

It *seems* to have started after uninstalling a program called BOINC -
though I'm not too sure on that point.

I have tried a number of file association "repairs", so far the problem
persists.

Any ideas are welcome.

Without the file extention part of the filename, e.g. what comes after
the last period; no one can help you. On the face of it I'd guess it's a
file associated with the just removed program you mentioned but again
without knowing the extention that's just a guess.

Right-click and select Open With. In the Open With window, check the
checkbox for "Always use the selected program" and select the Browse
button. Navigate to a program that will open the file and select the
Open button.

Pharmaceutical companies claim their drug prices are
so high because they have to recover the costs of developing
those drugs. Two questions:

1. Why is the U.S. paying the entire cost of development while
prices for the same drugs in other nations are much lower?

2. Manufacturers of generic drugs did not have those
development costs. Why are they charging so much for generics?

"BOINC Uninstall Clean Up Utility V1.0"
(It's from 2009, so hard to tell how relevant this is.)

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=4594

Actually comes from:

http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/resour...Cleaner_V1.zip

When unpacked it consists of:

ntrights.exe --- not sure what this does!!!
cleaner.bat (can view in Notepad)
cleaner.reg (can view in Notepad)
Readme.txt

In their "cleaner.reg" I don't see anything that looks
like a file association. They can apparently do this
via a user program level, or they can install a "service"
to run BOINC stuff.

ECHO Removing Registry Entries
regedit /s cleaner.reg

And this is the small section of registry removal stuff. They
remove a "Run key" and remove a Service.

REGEDIT4

"boinctray"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run-]
