nvidia driver

i recently did a clean re-install of win xp and i
installed
the latest video drivers but now when i boot computer it
starts up on the drivers that came with xp and my video
cards not listed in the device manageri have to reinstall
the new driver and reboot.I tried going back to an earlier
version driver(53.03) that worked fine before.I
uninstalled
the old drivers before installing the new ones.any help
