Default Can't find 'Workgroup Computers' even tho ran XP Network Setup Wiz

I have DSL connected to a Modem and then to a Wireless (SMC Barricade 11b)
router. There are two computers (1 hard- wired and 1 wireless laptop)
connected to the router and there is no problem with access to the Internet
for each. I then wanted to set up a home network so I could file and printer
share between the 2 computers (each has XP home installed). I ran the Network
Setup Wizard on each computer (both with and without firewall) but when I
open the Workgroup Computer file in 'My Network Places' the other computer
does not appear. I have tried all various combinations but nothing seems to
work....the setup most appropriate seem 'Other' ie connecting through a hub,
but that doesn't work either and I've tried all the other possibilities, I
think. Is there some setting I'm missing...any ideas are welcome. Thanks

Run the wizard and pick the one that states residential gateway(2nd) option.
You may have to enable the guest account on both machines. Also if you have
Norton or Mcafee they also come with a firewall. Go to MSCONFIG, Services
tab and uncheck everything from Norton's, Mcafee, Zone Alarm. Restart and
then check to see if that solves your problem. If it does it's a firewall
issue. Then go back and put a check mark in one of the those that you
unchecked and restart check the network if it works do the same thing again
with a different one. Once you check one and you cant see the network you
will find your culprit and will know which one you will have to configure.

I only have Norton and I did disable it and then tried your solution, but
still the same result. No computers are showing.

You actually went into msconfig and unchecked everything from norton's and
symantec because if you just disabled it from the screen on the bottom it
will have no affect what so ever. does your wireless adapter have the
firewall enabled if it does disable it. check for bridges if they are any
remove them. Is your wireless connected to your network and browsing the
internet? Try enabling net\bios over tcp/ip see what happens you must do
this on both machines.
