Hi Mike,

Are you running Home?

In Pro you can find it he Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Backup

The Backup utility is not included in the default installation of Windows XP
Home Edition. The Backup icon is not present on the Start menu in Windows XP
Home Edition, nor is Backup listed in Add Remove Programs for Windows XP
Home edition.

To manually install Backup for a Home "retail" version:

Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file in the following location on the Windows
XP Home Edition CD-ROM to start a wizard that installs Backup: CD-ROM Drive
:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP. When the wizard is complete, click Finish.

I have a pre installed version of Windows XP Home on my Sony VAIO
PCG-GRZ630. I can't seem to find the referenced folder or file on my system
recovery disks. Should I be looking elsewhere?

Thanks,
Charles P. (Pat) Upshaw

As Kelly said in her post, the instructions are for the "Retail" version of
XP home.
Most recovery disks are only meant to restore the systems to it's factory
settings and are modified by the computer manufacturers.

If you have a friend who has the full version, you could copy it off of
thier CD.
