XP - Newly installed programs not highlighted on start menu
I have set up the start menu to use the xp default style
menu (i.e. not the older classic version) and checked the highlight newly installed programs box. New installed programs are still not being highlighted. I verified that the Start_NotifyNewApps registry value is set to 1. Any ideas on how I can get this to work? I did screw up on the install of xp pro and inavertently set the date wrong (2004 instead of 2003). I changed the date to 2003 after the install - not sure if this is the problem, but if so, how can I fix it without re-installing? |

Hi Dean,
Old trick, disable that setting, reboot, then reenable it. See if that helps. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers aka "Nutcase" MS-MVP - Win9x Windows isn't rocket science! Hi Rick,
Thanks for your suggestion. I did uncheck the hightlight option, rebooted and changed it back - still no highlights. XP - Newly installed programs not highlighted on start menu
Hi,
Not sure there is much else you can do, as this is quite unusual. I would also try switching between menu styles. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers aka "Nutcase" MS-MVP - Win9x Windows isn't rocket science!
