XP "forgets" and "loses" parts of Microsoft Office 2000
Office apps always have a "Detect and repair" item on the help menu.

"Serious_Practitioner" wrote in message ... Recently installed XP on a Dell which had come with Win 98 from the factory. I used the "Upgrade" option and followed all the instructions. Prior to the upgrade, I had installed MS Office 2000 Pro Edition on the machine. Win XP frequently generates error messages like "This feature is not installed" when I try to get "Help" in MS Access 2000. That's the most frequent occurrence. Today I tried to import some stuff into Outlook 2000 - message said that the import capability wasn't installed. And other odd things have happened which indicate that the OS has lost track of some features that I have installed. This only seems to happen with Microsoft products... Additionally, sometimes the desktop will redraw itself with different icons, windows sometimes change size and position by themselves and so forth. It's like being in a fun house at the amusement park sometimes. I had this problem with Win98 also, but I had so much other trouble with 98 that I assumed the OS was at fault and the problems would clear up with an upgrade to XP. The upgrade didn't fix these issues. I'd like to resolve them before I install Office XP Developer. Does anyone have any advice on this sort of problem? Any and all help appreciated. Thanks...
