Default Invalid filename causing file problems

I am receiving the following errors when trying to delete
files that end in a period (.) in C:\Documents and
Settings\some user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\0DQRW1AB (i.e. "Read[1]." is the full
filename):

Error renaming file or folder

Cannot rename file: Cannot read from the source file or
disk.

-or-

Error deleting file or folder

Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or
disk.

Please let me know if anyone has this solution.

TIA,

Mike
