Folder Columns
I'm frustrated with the column tabs when viewing folders. Often, I
insert new folders within a main folder for video and/or audio editing. Each time I change the tab or title headings at the top of the file information. Ex: Name, Date modified, size, length, bit rate, etc. After I complete my work of moving or inserting files into that folder, then close it, I go back to it only to discover the original titles/heading are back such as Author, album, etc. I prefer using the same heading for ALL my folders and files. Is there a way to set these titles and keep them that way for ALL my folders and file information? Thanks |

If you can settle for "most of", the answer is yes. It's better than what I have now. Therefore, I'll take most of. |

As you stated in the original post: Each time I change the tab or title headings at the top of the file information. Ex: Name, Date modified, size, length, bit rate, etc. Do that for a folder, then on the menu bar View/Options/View tab - click on Apply to Folders, near the top, under Folder views. This applies only to folders of that type. The problem, of course, is that there are five types of folders you have to do this to. General items, Documents, Pictures, Music and Videos. Or, one could just not use Documents, Pictures, Music and Videos. If one jusy *has* to have special folders for those, make your own. -- dadiOH ____________________________ Winters getting colder? Perhaps you should create a new folder, while empty check the folder type (General items) , then place a graphic file in the folder and open/close it. Again check the folder type (Pictures). * Make another new folder, place a .doc file in it, open the .doc file and the folder type changes (from General items) to Documents. If you delete the .doc file and put in a graphic, the folder type changes to Pictures.* So, if one wants the folder views to be the same across the board one has to configure the various types of folders - at least the folders that can be configured. * - those results just now confirmed on my computer - Windows 8.1 Pro or alternatively use a better file manager than windows explorer and do exactly what you want to do. http://www.gpsoft.com.au/ -- mick |

There are other types of folders that can not be changed. (for instance c:\windows\fonts) I just click through folders, configuring those not changed yet. The type of folder is at - right click folder, Properties. Customize tab. Thank you. That settled my frustration. |
