Default Windows 8.1 desktops...

Hello,
I recently installed Windows 8.1 with StartIsBack and i found that i have
(at least) 2 desktops screens (putting the mouse on the left border and
dragging the desktop on the right). Is that a normal Windows 8.1 behavior or
is it a StatIsBack feature ???
Thanks for any answer.

I'm not sure of your question but when you have a program open you can drag
it either left or right and it will snap to a size that occupies one half of
the monitor. You can do the same thing with a second program, dragging it
to the opposite side; thus, you have two programs visible, each occupying
1/2 of the monitor.

You're describing what's called "virtual desktops":

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_desktop

This isn't built into Windows, nor does it appear to be a StartIsBack
feature. I would guess that there is another app installed that provides
them.

[Google translation/Google traduction]

Vous décrivez ce qu'on appelle "bureaux virtuels".

Ce n'est pas intégrée dans Windows, pas plus qu'il ne semble être une
caractéristique de StartIsBack. Je suppose qu'il ya une autre application
installée qui leur fournit.

I am a big user of virtual desktops on my Windows 2000, XP, Win7, and
Win8 machines. But that wasn't what I first thought Dudule was
describing. As I got the impression they were talking about switching
between the classic desktop and the Metro screens.

Many thanks for all your answers,
To be more clear, the following desktop images can illustrate my concern:

Desktop1:
http://imageshack.us/a/img10/844/xaz7.jpg

Desktop2:
http://imageshack.us/a/img542/1357/tnld.jpg

Desktop3:
http://imageshack.us/a/img842/4971/rae5.jpg

The Desktop1 is the image of my normal desktop, the Desktop2 is the same
Desktop1, but dragged partially from left to right (note that there is one
point on the bottom of the screen which appears). The Desktop3 is my second
desktop
with only one icon (note that there is now 2 points on the bottom of the
screen)

Thanks again for your answers.

OOups,
Found the "problem": this feature is given by "FENCES 2.11" installed on my
W8.1 PC... (and can be disabled).
"FENCES" Is a program that helps you organize your desktop and can hide your
icons when they are not in use.
Thanks again for your answers....
