That was probably suggested by the National Security Agency that Microsoft works with to keep your computer secure. Microsoft handed the NSA access to encrypted messages Glenn Greenwald, Ewen MacAskill, Laura Poitras, Spencer Ackerman and Dominic Rushe The Guardian, Thursday 11 July 2013 Microsoft has collaborated closely with US intelligence services to allow users' communications to be intercepted, including helping the National Security Agency to circumvent the company's own encryption, according to top-secret documents obtained by the Guardian. The files provided by Edward Snowden illustrate the scale of co-operation between Silicon Valley and the intelligence agencies over the last three years. They also shed new light on the workings of the top-secret Prism program, which was disclosed by the Guardian and the Washington Post last month. The documents show that: • Microsoft helped the NSA to circumvent its encryption to address concerns that the agency would be unable to intercept web chats on the new Outlook.com portal; • The agency already had pre-encryption stage access to email on Outlook.com, including Hotmail; • The company worked with the FBI this year to allow the NSA easier access via Prism to its cloud storage service SkyDrive, which now has more than 250 million users worldwide; http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...tion-user-data |

The most common route (though Registry edits are also floating around the
net). Is to turn 'Off' the feature to 'Save documents to SkyDrive by default' which will still default to your Document folder but not upload to online SkyDrive. Another option being circulated is shown below would relocate the SkyDrive but that only changes where SkyDrive stores files and the location for up/down sync of files with your online MSFT account SkyDrive. -- ....winston msft mvp consumer apps "Keith Nuttle" wrote in message ... You can remove it but it takes putzing. Stupid installer doesn't set it local once you uninstall Skydrive. You need to go to the UI for user management and convert it to a local account. And for apps that demand Skydrive/Live junk, uninstall them too. -- Socialist-statism corruption is a great idea so long as the credit is good and other people pay for it. While I don't do anything illegal, I don't trust putting up my encrypted password files, bank accounts, tax information, investment links and budget data, family pictures and more up to Micro$oft to snoop. I bought USB drives and a Passport drive for backup. There's no such thing as the "cloud" as the buzzword is being used today. All the "cloud" is, is a buzzword to make people feel airy about putting files / docs / data / pics / etc. onto other people's computers.
