Default How to I add programs to the "Default" Menu

Set Your Default Programs displays a subset of installed programs. How
do I get it to recognize everything I have?

Also, when I try to set a file association to one of the not-listed
programs, it ignores my choice.

And when I try "Edit with..." or "Open with..." Win 8.0 ignores my
selection.

OK. Try this:

Right click on a file and select Open with..

Windows will offer a couple of choices perhaps .. and there's a checkbox
to make the change permanent .. but notice the "More Options" .. click
on that.

Then scroll down .. all the way down .. and click on:

"Look for another app on this PC"

Find the executable of the application you want to open the file with.

'Hope that works for you.

Did all that before. When I click on that exe, Win8 ignores it
