I did an install under Process Monitor for both the full Pinnacle
install and just the drivers.
There were plentry of entries of the sort
"18:49:29.9781161","msiexec.exe","6812","CreateFil e",
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
Files\Pinnacle\Driver\Video\Bender64\PCLEBend64.in f","PATH NOT
FOUND","Desired Access: Read Attributes, Disposition: Open, Options:
Open Reparse Point, Attributes: n/a, ShareMode: Read, Write, Delete,
AllocationSize: n/a, Impersonating: stuart-PC\stuart"

For whatever reason the full Pinnacle install did not create
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Pinnacle and thus none of the
folders the install was expecting.

I have put a file pinnacle.zip on
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lptp0vscet...nacle.zip?dl=0
which contains csv files of the Process Monitor output for the full
Pinnacle install and the install ofonly the drivers filtered for path
containing Pinnacle and result not SUCCESS.
I don't know if it will help or even if it is readable.

After looking at the files, I don't see
anything that smacks of "success". The drivers
log looks like a giant "fail whale".

Does the area on the disk in question now exist ?

Or is there no evidence that anything worked ?

If I knew of a way to run msiexec in a compatibility
mode, I'd have suggested that by now...

Paul

Many thanks for all of the help and advice, but I am going to give up
on this and get a different device. I think that I have been messing
about for too long.

Well, I'm kinda curious whether the installer
did anything at all.

The Pinnacle installer installed all of the Pinnacle program except
for the stuff that was supposed to go into Program Files (x86)\Common
Files, didn't create the Pinnacle subfolder, also nothing in
system32\drivers.

OK, just ran into this at random. Kinda humorous, the
idea of "running their cleaning tool three times". Notice
the concept involves leaving Studio there, and just
fiddling around with separate folders. As if going to
Programs and Features and uninstalling it, doesn't
remove all those folders ? So they're "half-cleaning"
a product that remains installed ? What a crazy-ass
approach to repair.

https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/a...e-insert-disk-

I would be more inclined to remove both MSI installs using
Programs and Features control panel, then running their
registry cleaner. In the hopes that would remove
any history of the product being there.

I hope you have a backup...

Problem is when I click on the link on Corels page I get

I don't think that site exists anymore. The domain above is a CNAME for
cdnexpress.pinnaclesys.com.edgesuite.net, which doesn't resolve to an IP
address. In other words, the authoritative DNS server doesn't seem to
have a record for that anymore.

The popular tool for that sort of thing is dig, but nslookup will give
some limited info, as well.

OK, here is a Regdelete_14.exe

http://cdnexpress2.pinnaclesys.com/S...gDelete_14.exe

instead of this *broken* link

http://cdnexpress.pinnaclesys.com/Su...gDelete_14.exe

On the whole, I'd say these people are very very clever.
Note the every-so-slight addition of "2" to the host
name :-)

I don't think there is a later version than that,
but only more random searches will tell for sure :-)

Thanks for the advice. I downloaded the program and ran it 3 times. As
far as I can see it didn't do anything, possible because it is for
Studio 14, not 15. I did a search for uninstall studio 15 and it
appears that, taking the results at face value, I am not the only one
with uninstall problems. Most, however, recommend downloading and
using a program called Perfect Uininstaller
(PerfectUnininstaller_Setup.exe) which since I have never heard of and
does not from the name appear to be not 'tailored' for studio, I am
loth to do.

I was hoping that "memory" of the drivers portion
of Studio would be the same between versions.
While the application portion is likely to
have entirely different reg stuff in it,
the driver arrangement probably hasn't
changed for several releases.

Hello all
Finally sorted the problem with DVC100 driver install.
Bought Revo Uninstaller Pro and used it to uninstall Studio 15. Then
reinstalled Studio 15 logging it with Revo. Then uninstall Studio 15
with Revo. Reinstall Studio 15 again, logging with Revo.
Downloaded
http://www.mediafire.com/file/4cccrj...river+1.06.zip
Unzipped, went to Control Panel - Device Manager.

DVC100 was listed in the Sound, Video and Game controllers with a
yellow triangle. Right click and select Update driver. Pointed it to
where the unzipped file was. That installed the video driver. The same
again for the audio driver. DVC100 now picked up in Studio 15 and
AVSVideoRecorder.
Studio 15 Import does not show picture, only sound. However, the audio
and video are captured fine. AVSVideoRecorder displays video and sound
when capturing.
Many thanks yet again for all of the advice I was given, and now,
finally, the problem appears to be sorted. (Famous last words, however
??)

Some good work there.

You see, if you beat a computer with a stick
for long enough, eventually you'll make a tiny
dent in the casing :-)
