Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap
my gmail account has started throwing up the message,
"An error occurred during a connection to pop.gmail.com:995" "Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s)." "(Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)" I've tried deleting Google certificates in the hope that the email client (Eudora OSE) might reload them, but this approach has not yet worked. This has just started happening recently. Help, please? |

Paul I use Kaspersky AV. I just tried the following in Kaspersky; click "settings", bottom LH corner click "additional" click "network" click "monitor selected ports only", and uncheck "995" (inactive) click "do not scan encrypted connections" close the Kaspersky window Curiiously, Eudora OSE now works with these settings. I'm unsure as to whether making these changes has caused Eudora to work. |

Paul I'm still getting the problem. I unloaded (exited) Kaspersky, and the same error message still happens, every time I try to check mail. I cannot download email because of this error. Help, please? |

Help, please? If it was a certificate error, I would have expected to see a different error message. FYI Gmail dropped support for SSLv3 earlier this year. https://gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com...d-rc4-for.html Now the minimum cryptographic protocol which Gmail supports is TLS1.0 However, I would assume Eudora OSE does support TLS1.0. But if your Eudora OSE did not support TLS1.0 or higher, then you would not be able to connect to Gmail. One suggestion to try out is using STunnel to provide the SSL/TLS encryption to Gmail [Diagram best viewed in a fixed-pitch font] Â*Â*Â*Â*+---------+Â*Â*localhostÂ*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*+---------+Â*Â*pop.gmail.comÂ*Â*Â*+---------+ Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*portÂ*8110Â*Â*Â* Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*portÂ*995Â*Â*Â* *Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*GmailÂ*Â*¦ Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*EudoraÂ*¦-----------------¦Â*STunnelÂ*¦-----------------¦Â*Â*Â*POPÂ*Â*Â*¦ Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*Â*OSEÂ*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*noÂ*encryptionÂ*Â* *¦Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*¦Â*Â*secureÂ*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* *Â*¦Â*Â*serverÂ*¦ Â*Â*Â*Â*+---------+Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*+---------+Â*Â*connectionÂ*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*+---------+ -- Kind regards Ralph |
