Anyone running Malwarebytes v3.x on Win7Pro/32? If so, do you have any
opinions on it?

Why don't you install it and tell US about your experiences?

I just did but on Win 7 64 bit. No big deal. It installed and it gives
you a trial premium for ten days.

Hey, that is a good question asshole. Why don't you tell us why you think
the dude (or dudette) is asking the question.

Probably so some sucker installs it and tests it for him/her.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64)

I uninstalled Malwarebytes 2.2.1.1043 (the freeware version). After
downloading what I think is the freeware 3.0.4.1269, I installed it. I
saw no problems during installation. However, every time I try to
launch it, it crashes. I have reverted back to 2.2.1.1043.

I had to do the same. The 3.x trialware version cripples itself to the
free version after only 14 days. It was crashing (Windows 7 Home x64).
Users in their forums reported the same. Got rid of it. Went back to
the 2.x free version. It got discarded quick so maybe their full
product (trial) causes problems due to conflicts with other security
software. They say they are compatible with other anti-viruses but
users have found otherwise.

Microsoft must've immediately fixed this because I just looked and it is
available at the catalog site with a date of 11/23/16 which is when
Woody said it got pulled.

Although I have MBAM 2.2.1.1043 (free version, so no on-access scanner),
doing an update check does not have it detect there is a newer *program*
version. The option to check for program updates when checking for
database updates is enabled. So I'm not pestered with a prod to get the
newer program version that I had problems with.

Well, I just installed it on XP MCE SP2 (32 bit) and it installed a
service (a major no-no IMO). In fact, they've renamed the program to
"Malwarebytes Service". It ran okay, but has a Windows 10 kind of look
to it. Chameleon is gone. Overall, I didn't like it, so I uninstalled it
and went back to the older version I was running.

Where can I get a back up of 2.2.1.1043?
Is it significantly different to the newer version?

http://filehippo.com/download_malwar..._anti_malware/

Often they are used to offload download traffic from the vendor's own
site. So a link without a version usually reflects the latest version
available from the vendor. Apparently Filehippo has not yet been
updated. If and when that page gets updated to reflect v3 of MBAM, use
the "Older version" links to get an older version.

Yes, it's significantly different from the newer version:

http://www.ghacks.net/2016/12/08/mal...ne-protection/

I looked around for an installer file for that version. When it comes to
an anti-malware program, it's always better to get the installer from
the source. I was able to find this installer at the Malwarebytes site:

https://malwarebytes.box.com/s/u0b4k0fttttab6q2qqrw

After you install it, you check for updates and it will update to
version 2.2.1.1043.

AFAIK, that's the only option available for going back to 2.2.1.1043.

Thanks a lot. Is ther any difference in malware detecting abilities?

Who is box.com ???

When I go to the Malwarebytes site and then to Support,
I can find Support for past releases:
https://support.malwarebytes.com/cus...5314?b_id=6438

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware by clicking here (blue)
Clicking on blue here gives the link:
https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mbam_2x
and you can download mbam-setup-2.2.1.1043.exe
which is the requested file.

After you install it, you check for updates and it will update to

No, it is not.

And you did NOT download from the Malwarebytes site.
(fake information)

Cheers.
