Default About taskeng.exe

Hello:
from time to time, my laptop gets slow so I took a snapshot of the list
of processes and I compare it with another snapshot just taken after
restart where laptop seems fast and normal, I found that when laptop is
slow, process "taskeng.exe" is missing. So what this could be? a virus
or malware? how to fix it? can taskeng.exe be started manually?

any hint is greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

That's the task scheduler. I rather doubt it's the problem.

As a general rule of thumb, systems that slow down are doing too much.

Unless your drives are solid-state (SSD), slowness can be the result of
fragmented files. The affected files might not be involved in booting
but could affect the execution of applications.

Check the properties of your drives. On the Tools tab, click on the
"Defragment now" button. This does NOT defragment the disc now.
Instead, it launches the Disk Defragmenter window. Select the drive and
then the "Analyze disk" button. On my PC, I defragment when the drive
is 5% or more fragmented.

NOTE WELL: Defragmenting a SSD is not recommended because (1) it will
not improve performance and (2) it will subject the SSD to unnecessary
wear.
