I'm trying to attach an old HP 600 All-in-One Fax Printer Scanner to a Dell
laptop with XP SP2. I cannot find the fxscount.h dll file for XP Pro or Home other than for the small business Server 2003 OS. The printer portion is working, it is the FAX I cannot get to work. Can someone please tell me where I can download this file or how I can make this work? The DLL sites I've checked don't have it listed. Thank you in advance. Vicki |

I think you will find that its a txt type file, and not a dll, in which fax
msg counts are recorded "Vicki" wrote in message ... I'm trying to attach an old HP 600 All-in-One Fax Printer Scanner to a Dell laptop with XP SP2. The ".h" extension of fxscount.h implies it is a file that is part of the
program's source code; in other words, it is probably used by the developers to make the program. It is entirely possible that HP chose to use that extension for some other purpose, but it seems highly unlikely that HP would use a ".h" extension for a DLL. "Vicki" wrote in message ... DL you are absolutely correct, thank you for your response. I found the file
on another computer and it is a text file. However, I am still getting the same error while trying to set up a fax, the fxscount.h stops it. The error message "The file "fxscount.h" on Windows XP Professional CD-ROM is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK." HP has stopped support for the Officejet 600 and I really don't want to trash it because of this. I purchased a USB to Parallel printer cable which must be working fine and not interferring with the fax because it prints fine, it's only the fax that won't work. However, I am also getting a 2way communication error that I am also trying to test to see if this may be the problem. I just don't know how to do the 2 way test yet. Your problem is allmost certainly with the HP drivers, try updating them.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...&lang=en&cc=uk Its also possible the usb / Parallell converter is causing the problem with two way communication. Also check HP for any firmware update "Vicki" wrote in message ... DL you are absolutely correct, thank you for your response. I found the file on another computer and it is a text file. Many people have a hard time installing MS Fax for XP. Here's the fastest way to get all the missing fxs files:
Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Download the file, but don't run it (it's intended only for Server2003 installations). Open it with Winzip or other Zip reader. Save / extract the files to a convenient permanent folder, and point the FAX installation there to access them. |

The only downloadable file on that page is an exe file. An unzip utility is useless. The only thing you can do with it is run it and install the 2003 server you specifically say to not install (which reinstalls part of the operating system or something.)
I found and manually extracted some of the files but cannot find the cov files you mention, and if what I'm specifically trying to do is install MS Fax, how can I manually install it? The Microsoft site no longer has any XP/Server2003 files. fxscount.h can only be found on any XP Home or Pro CD that came with a new computer -- these CD's are everywhere. If not, contact me and I'll send it. What a pain that MS does not make important files like this available. The rest of the world cannot afford to update their OS's to MS's latest. XP is still very important in the schools, for example, in the poor backward countries of the world. Go figure....
