Default Win10_1903_V2_English_x64 ?

Hi All,

Anyone know the difference between Win10_1903_V1_English_x64
and Win10_1903_V2_English_x64?

I have been using V1. Any reason I should switch to V2?

And isn't 1909 due out sometime soon?

Many thanks,
-T

I'm not sure where your V1 and V2 come from or what they mean .

I am running Windows 10 Pro English x64 and here is what Winver gives me

Version 1903 (OS build 18362.418

What do you get with Winver?

Hi Rene,

Since I am downloading with Linux, M$ automatically switches me
to the ISO download, which is what I want anyway. (I cut
sticks with "woeusb")

This is from my Firefox curl extension (cliget). Go to
the bottom and check out the "--output" parameters.

Ok, I checked my latest ISO and it is 1903 with V2 english x64, But the
V2 does not do anything for me as I just use the latest ISO and install it.

Windows 1909 will be out later if not sooner. :-)

I am all tooled up for 1903 V1. Don't see a reason
for tooling up for V2 if 1909 is coming. So I though
I'd ask if I was making a mistake.

Boy can you hold off a lot of upgrade nonsense by
putting the latest ISO on to start with!

Wait? Did I just admit I could make mistakes?
Me? NEVER !!!!

What ??? I heard that all the way over the Internet!

Hmmmmmm... 4939528192 bytes versus 5369317376
bytes. They did something. Probably added
some more spyware.

Do you know how to read the version off one of those DVDs ?

Look in the "sources" folder on the DVD.

Look for "install.esd" or "install.wim".

Using a recent copy of 7ZIP, open that file as
an archive.

Look for "[1].XML" . Inside is version info as text.

The V1 would have said "18362.1" or a similar early version.

Now, look in your V2 and see what patch level it is at...
18362.xxx .

And that image is still too large for a single layer DVD.
So it's not like their compression attempt, helped
a customer. It's still too big.

It's OK to download those in Linux, if you're making
USB boot sticks. If you expect to burn a DVD with that,
it's better to use MediaCreationTool1903.exe. Running
the tool on W7/W8/W10 is likely sufficient as a platform.
The MediaCreationTool DVD version only has seven OSes on it,
and, it fits a single layer DVD.

I'm not sure where your V1 and V2 come from or what they mean .

I am running Windows 10 Pro English x64 and here is what Winver
gives me

Version 1903 (OS build 18362.418

What do you get with Winver?

Hi Rene,

Since I am downloading with Linux, M$ automatically switches me
to the ISO download, which is what I want anyway.Â* (I cut
sticks with "woeusb")

Where I see the V1/V2 is in the name of the ISO:

This is from my Firefox curl extension (cliget).Â* Go to
the bottom and check out the "--output" parameters.

The hint here is, it could be 18362.356.

And some more info here.

https://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...8#post-1551675

"1903 V2 ISO on techbench Media Content (18362.356 19H1)"

As if it's the "non-update" for the second half of the year.

The next Windows version update will be spring next year.
I think the Insider Fast Ring, the version on that is intended
for next year.

I got V2. It is part of the filename you get to download, not before you
complete their selections. I'm using Linus too. It's easiest to download
form this (Linux) laptop and then copy the file to the machine with W10
on it.

How to create Bootable M$ ISO's in Linux:

# dnf install WoeUSB

example:
