Scan Disk - Win XP pro
Thanks VERY MUCH, John.
jay -----Original Message----- Scan disk is now called chkdsk. Run it from the command prompt (start/all programs/accessories/command prompt) simply type chkdsk. You may get a message saying the disk cannot be checked because access to all files cannot be obtained. If this happens simply schedule a chkdsk for your next boot up. Rebbot your pc and chkdsk will kick in and check your disk. I always find defragmenting the drive is better in Safe mode because only limited drivers are installed for safe mode and so there is less to interfere with the dfragment process. Hope this helps John Barnett - MVP Associate expert -----Original Message----- What is "scan disk" called in XP? And how do I access it so I can run it before Defragging? . . |
