Slow access to applications in task bar
Hello,
I register a problem with a PC running Windows XP. I open several applications and can use them properly. And passing from an applications to another should be immediate. Sometimes, when I access any application clicking on the bottom Task bar, it gets a few seconds to show the application. Is there a reason this happens? Is there anything I can check in my Windows configuration? It seems (but I am not completely sure about this) that it happens when one of the active applications is a program that access to a SQL db (SQL Server is on the server). Hope you have suggestions :-) Thanks Ful |

Hi Ful,
You could try monitoring the activities by running Task Manager when running the SQL Server. But yes, SQL servers do take a lot of resources. No offense, but that is especially true if there are bad calls from to the database. "Ful" wrote: Hello, I register a problem with a PC running Windows XP. It really doesn't happen all the times, but it seems it happens when the PC is not working for a while. Suppose we leave it inactive for some minutes and when we try to access applications, it takes some seconds to access. One of my concerns was SQL, and another is that it could be something related to video cache memory, but I have no idea whether it is possible to configure it somewhere. Thanks Ful |

What you can do is to open task manager then sort on CPU. Leave this open
then wait for your issue to surface then you will see what is taking up CPU cycles when the computer is not active. My guess would be Windows Search 4.0 -- Randem Systems Your Installation Specialist The Top Inno Setup Script Generator http://www.randem.com/innoscript.html http://www.rndem.com/installerproblems.html http://www.randem.com/vistainstalls.html http://www.financialtrainingservices.org "Ful" wrote in message ... Slow access to applications in task bar
Hi Ful,
Could it be possible that you have applications that run in background? I suppose there could be an automatic defragmenter or indexer or even antivirus that runs only after you computer stays idle for a couple of minutes. Try to monitor that using the Task Manager as I suggested earlier. "Ful" wrote: Hi Ful, You could try monitoring the activities by running Task Manager when running the SQL Server.
