Frankenstein 8.1 is ready for pre-order

I disagree. I hated Windows 8.0 too. But for some reason I really like Windows 8.1 and won't call it that. The thing that bugged me most is fixed (Start Button). The App Page works better. Installed applications don't dump all over the Start Page (which I don't really use but anyway). Things are tightened and tweaked better. And I can still uninstall (or unpin) all the Metro "apps". As an NT system, Windows 8.1 works fine here and I can tweak it to the way I want it. WireTalk -- Are you Christian? But stumbling online? I think the differences between Windows 8 and 8.1 are minor and they are almost the same. Yes, they put the Start orb back in 8.1, but it certainly isn't fixed. It does only a fraction of what the Windows 7 Start orb does. If you really want the old Start orb back, you still need a third-party program such as the free Classic Shell, or the very inexpensive ($4.99 US) Start8, which as far as I'm concerned, is even better and worth the small cost. -- Ken Blake |

I used Start8 with Windows 8.0, but haven't bothered with Windows 8.1. With Windows 8.1, I simply use the built in Start Button to get straight to the Apps Page which I've learned how to customize a bit. WireTalk -- Are you Christian? But stumbling online?
