Apologies for offending
OK My apologies to group for the large sig and for seeming lie a
spammer. Yes, I only just realized I have to be careful of the date of the posts and if the issue's already been resolved. Thank you for pointing that out. The light just went on so to speak. I am interested in Windows and enjoy working with and discussing Windows. For now on I will use a shorter sig in this newsgroup. WireTalk -- http://www.holinessprompter.com New software for Christians who've decided to get honest. -- |

Ken Blake: don't bother killfiling me. I'm not welcome here it seems. I'm the newbie, I'll leave. And for the most part, it's my fault because I've acted like a bull in a China shop, not paying attention to post dates etc. Some of the group members have been quick to take offence at a large sig, others just hate my Christian sig even when made small; any mending is unlikely, so there's no point in causing further needless ruckus. Don't go to any effort "exposing" me because I'm not afraid to be exposed: Stephen Pike Ontario, Canada Owner of OntarioCode My major hobby is Windows and software, and I enjoy reading about and tinkering with the operating system. WireTalk -- http://www.holinessprompter.com Uh, son, to ensure that real newsreader software like my Agent can recognise and snip your *.sig field you need to put "-- " (dash, dash and a space" on one line then the words on the next line. You've almost got it but I think you missed the space. No, he had a space at the end of his sig line. The *first* one. Note the last line in his post is _also_ a sig delimiter but without a space. I do know two sig delimiters confuses my version of Pan, it may also confuse your reader. Wiretalk should fix that. -- -bts -This space for rent, but the price is high |

WireTalk In fact you will be better off not including any signature. You are very well known here already and any further promotion of yourself might antagonize other users on these newsgroups. Why do you want to promote your Christian virtues? People might think you are a Christian fundamentalist. Is this how you what you want to be known? |

Isn't that skating on the edge of the thinner ice? [Linux *must* be evil as he doesn't have a version of his 'wares for it and because it isn't Windows.] OTOH, the sci. groups do get all irked when the Islam guy sends in his monthly 500 lines of screed so maybe you're correct. OTGH, he *is* advertising software so that might be considered either as offensive spammery or as genuine entrepreneurship. Depending on how good it is. J. Isn't that skating on the edge of the thinner ice? No, neither is OK. Both are off-topic for this newsgroup, and don't belong here. On the other hand, if once on a while someone includes a viewpoint that Linux is better than Windows, even though I disagree, it doesn't both me anywhere near as much as doing the same thing or something similar in his signature on every message he posts here. I'm far from perfect myself, and have been known to once in a while post something off-topic. But I try not to do it too often. -- Ken Blake |

Don't forget that for some, Linux *is* a religion - or at least nearly so :-) FWIW, I just read in today's local newspaper (San Jose, CA Mercury News) about a revival meeting like gathering in San Jose of "a global atheist movement called Sunday Assembly", founded in London by a British stand-up comedian, Sanderson Jones. The headline was "Believe it: Atheists land in Silicon Valley". The headline writer apparently had a bit of fun... -- Gene E. Bloch (Stumbling Bloch) |
