Is there any way to disable this frustrating thing in Window 8.1.

I do all of my work on the Desktop and usually have multiple windows
open. I moving these windows to look at different parts of the window
and invariably one will touch the edge of the screen and the window will
spring to a full window.

I would like to disable this and let the window go off of the screen
without going to full screen/

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...snap-on-or-off

"Prevent windows from being automatically arranged
when moved to the edge of the screen"

There's a tick box for it. The hardest part, would be finding it
if they didn't tell you where it was located in the Ease of Access
Center.

Adding the second half to the path Paul said...

If you grab the window far enough from the side you are moving it to, so
that the mouse cursor doesn't touch the edge of the screen, all shoudl
be good.

For vertical moves, if you want to stretch the window only vertically,
grab the very top edge so that you get the double arrow, then move the
edge up. Similarly on the bottom edge.

You should learn about the syntax of signatures and you should learn how
to do replies, just to give a less amateurish appearance to your posts.
It won't help with the content, but one can't have everything.

In case you haven't noticed, you've now got a petulant child stalking
you. This is what he does when you tell him something he doesn't want
to hear and that he can't deal with.

If you reply to him, watch out for the gratuitous crossposted groups he
adds when he doesn't like you.

Thanks

As an example I recently scanned over 100 pictures, put between 4 to 8
on the scanner bed at a time. When they were all scanned I opened each
scanned image, and cut each picture placed it in another window and
aligned it, sharpened it and placed and identity in the image. When I
was happy with the results I saved it to another folder.

In this operation I had three windows, one with the folder with the
original scans, a folder for processed images, and a folder to collect
the process images. In addition I had a couple of windows running with
the image processing program, one to view the original images, and
select the image for processing and one to process the selected image.

It was getting very frustrating having to re-size the window several
times, as I moved between the various open windows with my operations.

I use Alt-Tab to switch between windows in cases like this.

I, for one, keep forgetting about Alt-Tab.

Thanks for the reminder. Let's hope it sticks this time...

It's OK, Nil. I'm just having fun. I 'noticed' John Doe a long time ago.

It'll only stick with use you know :-)

I suppose that since I used a keyboard long before the mouse came
around I tend to stick to the keyboard.

OK, just wanted to make sure you're aware. Once you get on his ****
list (that is, if you ever disagree with him) he will start following
you around to other groups you post in and try to dig up your personal
information. Not that it really matters, but he can get annoying in a
mosquito sort of way.

He hasn't figured out how to reply without including headers. Figuring out
signatures is likely still a long way off.

And Shift-Alt-Tab to move backwards through the list of open windows.
