Contacts can be held on an IMAP file

Interesting. I have never seen that. This last customer certainly
didn't.

Fascinating. Now to get eMail servers to support it!

Yes, you're right, O 2016 doesn't, when you change the type to IMAP. I
think your stuck with OST files. You can still export 'em anytime to
PST.

Works for me, except when the OST file gets corrupted. Bummer

I guess. I've found it to be pretty rare. Is there a big deal in just
deleting a corrupt OST and starting Outlook again and getting it to re-
populate?

Hi Dave,

I find that a have "the month of ...". The month of bad dvd drives,
the months of junkware, etc.. Right now I am having the
month of bad hard drives. And since M$O uses one YUGE
file for everything, anything goes wrong and your are screwed
(such as a hard drive corruption).

If the customer is using iMap and only cares about getting
his iMap folders back, no problem

The customer lays an eggs when he loses his contacts,
tasks, and local folders.

Most don't know the difference between local folders and
iMap folders. And I have way too many eMail hoarders
for customers. The last one had a 17 GB (corrupted) OST
file.

Indeed!

I do get tired of being looked at like some kind of criminal
trying to sell unneeded garbage to customers. I have
to be very careful how I raise the issue. Times like
these usually always sell them on backup.

Thunderstorms also work for selling UPS power supplies.
But I have to raise the issue within one day, or they
forget.

But most of the time, I get treated like a criminal,
so, I raise the issue delicately only once, then I let
them stick the hands in the fire, so to speak.

This customer bought backup drives and is paying me to
install backup software on all his computers. Too
bad he had to stick his hand in the fire first ...

I get so tired of the attitudes I get off of customers
that I am only trying to look after

I am starting to get the same attitude off on some customers
about Anti Virus too. You know, we computer guys write
these things so we can charge customers to remove them.
I have had customers show me out he door, so to speak,
when I asked them about their Anti Viruses
