Well, I bought SSDLife. Unfortunately, it is subscription model. You have
to pay for it every year. I doubt I'll renew, it says I have 9 years left
on my SSD (Samsung 840 EVO). These things are ready for prime time.

No download link. Only link I see is for the "Pro" version. Maybe they
discontinued freeware?

I'll check FileHippo, maybe they have it.

Yes, very odd - as the page still says "the program is 100% free!". But
like you, I could only find download links for "SSD Life Professional",
"SSDLife for Ultrabook", and "SSD Life Professional portable".

http://www.techspot.com/downloads/64...life-free.html

That says it's version 2.5.8.2, which is what the first two on the
ssd-life also says they are. (The "portable" [which it warns isn't
totally so] doesn't show a version.)

No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.

The difference is that 'techspot' DOES have a download link from which
you can download the free version, and I have done so.

The 'ssd-life.com' site does not appear to have a download button for
the FREE version. I agree with Zaghadka - I also could not find a
download link for the free version.

What I said, in effect. I too couldn't find such a link on the home
site. Which makes it odd that that site says "100% free!".

Has anyone contacted them about this?
