A little bit; when I visit relatives whose OS is Apple; one relative has
a nice iMac.Â* Another has an iPhone and an iPad.Â* I've used the iMac as
my online device numerous times in the past and I have a saved directory
there of 'my stuff'.Â* On a recent visit, it was necessary to do
troubleshooting of the iPhone & iPad.Â* The iPhone had a dead battery
that needed to be replaced, and then had connectivity problems.Â* I used
the iPad to help resolve the connectivity security-related issues of the
iPhone.

But, I don't have enough interest in Apple products to spring for the
bucks to acquire one more device around here just to twiddle w/ it.Â* The
last 3 devices I purchased were -1- a Raspberry Pi kitÂ* -2- a VoIP
device for phone service for my house landline phones -3- a cheap Win10
refurb/ed laptop (which now also runs linux).

In the past I have 'looked around' to see if there were any good deals
on Mac mini/s, but then I decided that the deals weren't good enough and
I also didn't have enough interest in the Mac OS.Â* I can satisfy all of
my OS alternatives interests w/ the generations of Win which are still
around ranging 2 XP, 2 Vista, 2 7, now 1 10 only used occasionally and
the scores of linuxes I have both installed on those original Wins and
on USB sticks.

99% of the time I'm on a linux.Â* At this moment I'm getting ready to
print something w/ a printer USB connected to an old desktop running XP.

BD's dumb graphic ofÂ* "Microsoft and or MVPS.org are in no way
affiliated with, nor offers endorsement of, this site."

What is "dumb" about it? It's simply a copy/paste of the text which is
seen on the website. It's not what I would describe as being a 'graphic'.

I agree w/ what Apd said here in Jul.

http://al.howardknight.net/?ID=156563795800

Thanks. I've read that again.

When he says "this site" he probably
means his few pages at the subdomain winhelp2002.mvps.org which the
owner of the main domain mvps.org allows him to control. The main
"site" (mvps.org) owner doesn't approve or disapprove of the content
and the only way they are connected is that they are both MVPs.

In the past, Mike Burgess hosts pages were in mvps.org/winhelp2002; now
he has a subdomain.Â* When you look around the various sites 'related' to
the old mvps reference system, some of them are on their own domain name
sites and some of them are in subdomains of mvps.org (and might have
previously been in / paths).Â* That doesn't mean that mvps.org as an org
has anything to say about what is on the pages.

However...

... if somehow some unhappiness developed, mvps.org could take away the
subdomain name from Mike Burgess and he would have to work out something
else about how to do his hosts site.

Shadow says one should not use *names* on the Usenet! So ....

*Who is Mike Burgess*?

No mention of him he- http://www.mvps.org

He's not mentioned in this page:- http://www.winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

Nor is his name mentioned he-
https://www.blogger.com/profile/09662737599549871224

And he's not mentioned here either:-
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...c-68b599b31bf5

This site mentions that out of the millions and MILLIONS of computer
users, just 10,000+ utilise his Hosts file:-
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/mvp...re-protection/

Now consider what Wikipedia has to say:-

*Security issues*

The hosts file may present an attack vector for malicious software. The
file may be modified, for example, by adware, computer viruses, or
trojan horse software to redirect traffic from the intended destination
to sites hosting malicious or unwanted content.[15] The widespread
computer worm Mydoom.B blocked users from visiting sites about computer
security and antivirus software and also affected access from the
compromised computer to the Microsoft Windows Update website. In some
cases malware has modified the library responsible for loading the hosts
file in order to redirect it to a file it is able to control freely.

=

Interestingly, Malwarebytes chose *NOT* to use the Hosts file mentioned
above in *their* product!

How can we be sure that Mike Burgess's Hosts file is a good thing to use
on one's computer - and not something bad?!!

Btw, 'Corrine said this earlier this year:-

After realizing that there had been another lapse without updates, I
sent him another email but did not receive a response. I then inquired
in two private MVP venues in an attempt to locate someone who knows Mike
personally and has contact information. That resulted in two other email
addresses but, sadly, no response from Mike. A search of legacy.com was
suggested, which I did, checking each entry for Michael Burgess that
didn't have a state listed but there weren't any from New Jersey (which
I had gotten from his Hosts News blogger profile.

*Who is Mike Burgess*?

Mike Burgess runs the hosts site we are talking about.

Old reference to mvps.org/winhelp2002Â* http://www.mvps.org/links.html

He's listed here too:-

http://www.mvps.org/links.html

Mike Burgess http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/

On some other related page I saw a pic called 'Mike'.

Link please, if you find it. This is what he supposedly looks like:-

https://i.imgur.com/p6eDiw9.png

Other websites referred to him and his related serious health issues
(when there were no updates for a few months), but as far as I know he
is still the maintainer.

Try clicking on the links shown beneath the 'world map' in the top right
hand corner of the web pages. They go to different destinations.

This is what stalking looks like. Gross and disgusting.

And that is BD the STALKER. If he can get hold of ANY personal
info, he WILL post it all over Usenet, private forums and "social

I left the OT groups in this time since he insists on
