Can't rename W10 desktop folders
Some, but not all. And these are folders I created!
In fact, for them I see no 'properties' either. Probably an ownership problem, but I haven't been able to deal with that either. xxxxx |

Turned it off - made no change. All desktop folders I created still have same problem. Shortcuts I created work fine however. Odd? Thanks xxxxx |

Thanks xxxxx Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) Would that I could. I cannot open a command prompt (cmd.exe). This AM I not only cannot do what I described, but now I cannot execute anything from the taskbar. And further icons that should show in the task bar as I execute an app from the desktop icons, they do not show in the taskbar because the latter only show row 1 of the taskbar icons. Further, I cannot doubleclick to ahut down. Great! I don't want to simply power down, but may have to. Groan xxxxx whoami and see what account this is. Maybe you're running as the Real Administrator (account 500?). I was going to suggest checking the path, via doing Properties on a shortcut there, and make sure the storage area belongs to your account. But doing "whoami" might uncover some details too. ******* One other possibility, is the TamperProofing setting was enabled, and this prevented your attempt to turn off Ransomware Protection from working :-/ I vaguely remember I had to turn off TamperProofing before I could disable Windows Defender RealTime Protection. I found that the windows key restored the taskbar and so, now I will try your cmd.exe xxxxx whoami and see what account this is. Maybe you're running as the Real Administrator (account 500?). It's something you HAD to have installed. I'm almost 100% sure no other program would have installed it for you as a freebee extra to the installation of their own software. It's not like a program installing toolbars in your browser. And if you removed it then you've got no backup any longer. |
