Roadmap for PDF reader in Microsoft Edge

Nope, wrong again. When I click on a link to a pdf it downloads to a
temp folder and is automatically displayed in PDFXChange on the second
screen. One click needed, no plug-ins, no switching.

Just set:
chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments
to:
Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome


The result is that one screen is displaying the web page and the other
is showing the pdf. Which is how I like things.

that's a separate app.

One click needed, no plug-ins, no switching.

you're ignoring installing that app and configuring it to handle pdfs.

Yes I know. I was refuting your claim that I would need to launch
another app to read the pdf. The action of downloading the pdf launches
the reader automatically. Just as downloading an image file launches
Irfanview.

yes I am. because I did that when I set up the laptop 4 years ago as
that was necessary to view local pdf files in my preferred viewer.
Or are you now going to argue that installing Windows 10 is necessary to
achieve my preferred setup and should be taken into account as well?
I also needed to have an account with an electricity supplier so I could
power the PC, perhaps I should have mentioned that just to keep you
happy.

it absolutely counts, just as installing a plug-in 4 years ago would
have been.

none of that is needed when pdf is built into the browser (although you
still could do so).

That is what I have beeen saying from the start. Obviously if I am not
viewing pdfs in the browser then I am using another app.
