Default Iphone8 cast to TV?

This is not a W10 topic, but I didn't find an iphone group.

Anway, I want to 'cast' to my TVs from this new iphone8 I have. I
fear that I won't be able to because they do not have a so-called
'airplay' (I think this name is right) built in. Despite the fact
that there are several iphone apps being peddled to do just that. What
do you guys think? Anyone done it? How?

Thanks

Explanation and instructions there. But of course it
requires a special TV.

What do you want to achieve? I recently
set up a Raspberry Pi to our TV. Less than $100, not
counting a wireless keyboard and mouse. We can now
do web browsing and stream movies. It's really a full
computer. Connects with micro-HDMI to HDMI. If you
just want to display photos from the iPhone you could
also do that, but you'd need to get them off the phone
first, onto a USB stick or some such. But if you want to
use a TV as an iPhone display then you'd need to get
the TV for it.

airplay is one of several methods, however, it will require a tv that
supports it or an apple tv box connected to it. if all you want to do
is airplay, then an older apple tv will suffice (3rd gen or later),
which are very cheap these days.

other options include using a roku box, google chromecast, amazon fire
tv or even just an hdmi cable.

Of couse I did. All I have found is that apparently the TV has to
have Airplay built in for casting to work from an Iphone. I had
already succesfully done casting from my old Galaxy Tab4 tablet to
same TV and never thought I couldn't from my new iphone. I just
thought/hoped one of the many casting apps w/could do it.

I wanted to show iphone Facetime video on TV for my disabled,
dementia-bound wife to see the kids better than on a small iphone.
Crazy thought.

no need to hope, since any tv will work. either it has airplay built
in, which some do, but if not, connect an apple tv box to it, which
will add airplay functionality (and quite a bit more, but that can be
ignored if all you want is airplay).

content.

I have found these iphone apps:

screen mirror
streamit
webcastTV
gomirror
TV assist
TV cast

which purport to provide casting to TV, but I have concluded that
none will work in my case, namely my iphone8 to my TV whick lacks
airplay. Am I wrong?

BTW: I am wanting to 'cast' live FACETIME video to TV. i have stated
why.

you have two options, either wireless via airplay or wired via an hdmi
cable.

since your tv lacks airplay, you will need to connect an apple tv box
to add that functionality, which i explained several posts ago. an
older model is sufficient for just airplay.

You have probably found this site if not here it is

https://airmore.com/mirror-iphone-to-chromecast.html

I have a Samsung Smart TV, it is connected to my internet. My daughters
routinely connect their Iphones to the TV to do what you want, show
their pictures and videos on the TV. As I remember they downloaded a
free program to make the connection

If you have an local area internet, the cheapest and most reliable would
be to buy a new Smart TV. We were at a big box store, and they had a
small one, 32" for about $150. Of course they also had an 85" for $1600

Seems strange in that it use to be a small TV was a 17" TV, 32" was huge.
