This is not a W10 topic, but I didn't find an iphone group.

Anway, I want to 'cast' to my TVs from this new iphone8 I have. I
fear that I won't be able to because they do not have a so-called
'airplay' (I think this name is right) built in. Despite the fact
that there are several iphone apps being peddled to do just that. What
do you guys think? Anyone done it? How?

Thanks

You have probably found this site if not here it is

https://airmore.com/mirror-iphone-to-chromecast.html

I have a Samsung Smart TV, it is connected to my internet. My daughters
routinely connect their Iphones to the TV to do what you want, show
their pictures and videos on the TV. As I remember they downloaded a
free program to make the connection

Any idea the name of the app they used? I have tried several.

If you have an local area internet, the cheapest and most reliable would
be to buy a new Smart TV. We were at a big box store, and they had a
small one, 32" for about $150. Of course they also had an 85" for $1600

Seems strange in that it use to be a small TV was a 17" TV, 32" was huge.

No other that it was the one rerecorded by Samsung, Smart View App

I did not stand over their shoulder so I don't know what they download,
but this is the one that they started to look for.

he said he wants to cast facetime, and that app will not do that.

the description also states that the app will no longer be supported
after october, 2020.

It appears that there is no app to cast this iphone8 screen to a non
airplay TV. Damn!

it appears that you aren't actually interested in a solution.

you've been repeatedly told how to do exactly what you say you want to
do, which you keep ignoring.

As nospam mentioned, buy an 'Apple TV' player (i.e. not a TV) or use
an HDMI cable (if the iPhone 8 and TV have HDMI, nospam still has to
confirm/deny the former).

as i said, an apple tv box will add airplay to whatever tv is connected
to it (and much more).

to use an hdmi cable, the iphone will need a lightning-hdmi adapter,
which can be had for as little as $10, although personally, i would not
get the cheapest adapter available, nor would i get the cheapest hdmi
cable either.

An old generation Apple TV player should be rather inexpensive and a
current generation one isn't that expensive either.

it's major overkill if airplay is the only desired function, which is
why i suggested an older apple tv (but nothing older than 3rd gen).

4th gen and later support third party apps, which may be useful.

It's not impossible to mix platforms/vendors, but it's often more of a
hassle than it's to just bite the bullet, like in this case [1].

it's rarely a hassle.

Thanks for moving me to this folder.

Think this cud work?
https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Ad...-6&tag=mh0b-20

HDMI and USB cables would limit distance tho. Better than nothing.
