Default Deleting files with truncated extensions

I have XP Home Edition.

Somehow I have files with no extension to the filename
(instead of Abcd.??? it has just Abcd. -- nothing
after the dot. The filename has been truncated.

How can I delete files that have no extension in the
filename?

Each file has 0 bytes. I can see the names, but when I
try to do something with the file, XP tells me that the
file cannot be found. Command prompt commands will list
the files, but not allow me to do anything.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

John
