Default Move TEMP and TMP , and Program Files to different partition

I want to move the TEMP and TMP directories to a different
partition. How can I do that, and make sure that the XP
still can find these folders.

I also want to move the program files to a different
partition. Here the same question. How can I do that, and
make sure that when I install new programs you will be
prompted to do that in this new partition?

Thanks for your answer!

Best Regards,
Frederik

"Probably" (and you have to test this) by resetting the TEMP and TMP
environment variables to point to the new locations (see My Computer
Properties) for the system this will work. I say probably because it
depends on the programs themselves using these environnment variables.
I've done same on my laptop to avoid these temp files cluttering up my
profile folders (and increasing the time to log off), and despite this,
I still see files with contemporary time stamps in my private profile
"temp" folder. I've not taken time to figure this out.

Re moving the programs, the best way would be to un-install them, and
then re-install them into the folder you want. Only if the developer of
the application provides you a way to specify the install folder (which
is 98% of the time), can you specify the install folder.

If you just "move" your Program files to a different partition you may have
problems as the registry settings won't match. You could, however, move
them and then reinstall to reset the registry paths. Then run a utility
like RegscrubXP to clean up the incorrect entries.

Get TweakUI for Windows XP from
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

That URL is pretty long.

Note that if you change the location of the Program Files folder that
this will be in effect for all future installs. However existing
installed programs should be left where they are or reinstalled.
TweakUI will not change the registry entries for the existing
installed programs.

Good luck
