You could, of course, go to Walmart and purchase a PC that comes with Linux.

Your contempt for "another one who doesn't follow MS instructions," and

your
lack of empathy are less than admirable. Your "follow MS instructions"
sounds a lot like "follow Saddam's instructions!" Most folks don't ask

for
XP help because they selected XP of their own free will. For new PC
systems, XP is shoved down everyone's throat by the Redmond regime's
stranglehold on the OEMs. A new Dell or Gatweay machine comes with
Microsoft product EULAs that provide users with fewer rights and less
protection than most terrorists enjoy.

Yes, both home and pro belong to the NT family.
Something MS never wanted to do, but they can't
make money from support if they make it easy,
so they decided to nail those customers that made
them to be the richest company in the world.
Gates have enough money to last his family
hundred of years, but he is trying to buy heaven now,
so he can nail his customers after he dies.

MS now doesn't care whether you are a happy customer
or not, and they don't care if you never bought from them
ever again, because they can make money by nailing
others, wasting their time and money, try to impress
them with their worthless over engineered programs.

Yes, it is more stable, but sometimes it dogs it,
and can't be restored. You simply have to install
clean when it does, it doesn't even reinstall on top
the old install, because the stupid thing asks for
Administrator password but it can't recognize it.

To find your mail files, you have to dig for them
10 folders deep, in a weird very long directory name.
Scew your mail box he says, you don't need to find it.

If you don't know how to secure and configure XP,
then every body on the internet can access your computer,
play with your files and do as they please.

What also worse, for the littlest problem, the computer
shuts down. Who is the stupid person that thought
shutting the computer down in the middle of your
work is a great idea.
Works perfect with MS Office, that thing never ran
right from day one, getting errors with office is a very
common thing, if you don't save your work, then you are
going to loose your work when the computer shuts down.

MS never made a good running product, they always
do something new, with more bugs, tougher bugs,
and harder to use.
Look back in their history, from DOS days until
today, non of the products they made was at least
reasonable.

I use to help people run their computer, I don't
do it no more, XP has so many bugs is unbelievable,
they make you a service pack, and the darn thing
fixes some bugs but adds big new bugs. So you
would call MS and pay for support. Not as cheap
as Win95, because this is serious NT support.
Their support are a bunch of ignorant idiots.
In the past they had mediocre support, now they
have stupid ignorant agencies doing their support.

BGB,
May I suggest you abandon your normal male penchant for not reading the
manual and actually learn what you are talking about. If you find using XP
unfriendly, you have some serious learning disorders. Every example you

gave
was a smoking gun pointing out how ill informed you are. Maybe it is just
the accelerated pace of technology that has you confused. Do you also find
programming your DVD or VCR player a challenge? Maybe that remote with the
ability to control more than one device is the same frustration. I see

your
frequent posts, and usually just shake my head in amusement. But I am
beginning to feel sorry for you, either you are a pre-teen with serious

lack
of parental supervision, or an ill informed adult. In either case your

posts
are getting painful to ignore. Where in the computer owners manual does it
say this computer was expressly built for stupid ill informed people that
refuse to learn how to use them?
BTW From your recent posts, you are probably doing people a favor not
offering your help.
