Default Format Problem

Sorry I made a mistake on the subject of my last question. How do I erase
all data on my C:. When I run XP install disk, I get to the screen where I
can choose to delete a partition, but it won't allow me to do it. It says
that the partition has setup files needed for install. Is it possible to
erase the drive and install directly from the cd? I'm reinstalling XP pro,
but I want to do a clean install. My file format is FAT32, but I'm going to
change to NTSF.

You have to boot the computer from the XP cd.
You can then Delete the partition and create a new one to format in ntfs.

Hi Ronk....Just did that a couple of days ago. Insert the CD in the drive
turn off the computer and wait 30 seconds and presto. Follow along and you
will be up and running in no time. My problem though was once I connected
to get my updates and virus program downloaded I was invaded by hacker,
adware etc. Keep calm and unplug the network until you really need it ...I
1st installed my virus checker and then update through windows update all my
computer needed ...set it to automatic with prompt...so far I removed
98hacker, adware, and malicious users since the 7th with this
program...everything looks good now and I'm debating on XP2 ....so many
nasty things it can do I read. I have a post on Windows Update just today to
get a vote on should or shouldn't install winxpSP2...GOOD LUCK..
