Default Captured movie won't upload via Firewire

I've been able to control and capture video from my Sony
Digital 8 camcorder with no problems. When I go to put
the video back on to the camera the resulting video is
corrupted. The video looks like 4 or 5 flickering blocks
that are portions of the uploaded video and there's no
sound. This result is consistent for both WMM2 and Ulead
Video Syudio 7. If tried updating the boards (the
firewire port is integrated)drivers and reinstalling the
editing software in addition to various types of capture
settings. HELP
