Default Speech Recognition

I am developing a device for the blind and am thinking of embedding
the speech recognition function into it

There are a few choices out there --- IBM ViaVoice, Google Audio
Indexing and Microsoft Speech

If you have any experience with any of the above 3 software, I would
like to hear your comment on the pros and cons on them

Thank you !

Speech recognition is always heavily dependent on training of both the
system and the operator, plus on the microphones and ambient noises. It's
important to recognise this in any use of the concept.

The best is Dragon Naturally Speaking (except maybe some VERY expensive
package).

Last time I used ViaVoice, it was not bad.

Speech recognition is always heavily dependent on training of both the
system and the operator, plus on the microphones and ambient noises.

Nuance, the company that currently handles both Dragon
and ViaVoice, also offers code which is not speaker-dependent
but is much more limited. Is it too limited even for the
sort of control function hinted at? I don't know. Seems
to work well on those #$%^ ^&**( #$%^ telephone systems.
