Is slipstream a supported operation?
I've been said that Microsoft does not provide support to final users
for the service pack integration in their systems (ie: "slipstream" or integration a SP in the XP CD installer). It seems a rather weird statement (if it was not supported it wouldn't be mentioned in the XP documents or exist at all), but I wanted a "official" confirmation that the above sentence is false. |

Microsoft does not provide any technical help assistance with
slipstreaming a Service Pack into Windows XP, but there are several free third-party programs that you can use: Windows Slipstreaming and Bootable CD Guide http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?act...showarticle=49 Information on AutoStreamer 1.0 http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.ph...st=0&#entry245 Windows XP Service Pack 2 - Direct Download http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows XP - Shell/User Be Smart! They don't provide help in doing it, but the result is a normal installation CD that, provided it is done correctly so it works, gets normal treatment. The tools for extracting files from the full SP2 program, and for merging them are provided in that - method of use see Slipstreaming SP2: http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=7262 -- Alex Nichol MS MVP (Windows Technologies) Bournemouth, U.K. (remove the D8 bit) |
