Default Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

Hello,

I recently did a clean install on my parents computer, which is part of my
annual maintenance routine. I have used the Files and Settings Transfer
Wizard several times on several machines to successfully restore data after
this procedure. Unfortunately, when I did this on my parents machine, it
lost all data in Outlook 2003 - contacts, emails, account settings,
everything. It attempted to restore some settings in Outlook Express, but
without any success. Once I reinstalled the OS and all the apps, I ran
Windows Update and installed every hotfix, which gave me an identical
environment from which I migrated from.

As my parents heavily rely on Outlook, I am looking for a way to extract
these settings before deleting the backup files (which are over 12 Gig for
each profile, one for Mom, and one for Dad). Of course, I spent an hour
searching through Microsoft's help page before becoming desperate and
looking for information here. The error message that I receive when
attempting to perform the restore indicates that 'some files' weren't
successfully migrated and were placed in the "My Documents" folder,
although, none of these are .pst files.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Ed Janx

Default Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

Thanks Bear,

I have read this and found nothing that applies specifically to my scenario.
As I mentioned, I have used this procedure several times successfully, and
never was unable to complete the Outlook information migration until now. Is
there any tool, or any way to extract my outlook files manually from the
F.A.S.T. .DAT backup file, or am I screwed? If I have no other recourse, the
file is over 12G so I'd like to delete it.

thanks again,
Ed

Someone from the Outlook NGs may have some ideas. Please eliminate the
unnecessary cross-posting in future replies.
